Fraudsters Dupe Woman Of N2.5m

The police in Lagos on Wednesday arraigned three men before a Yaba Magistrates’ Court for allegedly defrauding a woman of N2.5 million.

The accused persons, Ikechukwu Imeogu, 35; Godwin Obani, 42; and Micheal Imeogu 35, reside at Okota, Lagos, and are facing a three-count charge of obtaining money by false pretence.

They pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Inspector Rita Momoh, said they committed the offence on December 30, 2011 at No. 50, Ire Akari Estate, Okota, Isolo.

She said the accused conspired and collected the money from Mrs. Mercy Idemudia, following a sales agreement.

The prosecutor said they promised to supply the complainant with a consignment of electronics consisting of bulbs, switches, distribution board and cables.

She told the court that the accused persons never delivered the goods to the complainant nor refunded her money.

The prosecutor said that the offence was contrary to Sections 285, 409 and 419 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.

Magistrate P. A. Adekomaya granted them bail in the sum of N500, 000 each with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till May16 for mention.
