Thugs loyal to one of the warring factions of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, in Lagos State have invaded Salvador Compound on 122, Bamgbose street on Lagos Island, the ancestral birth place of its former chairman, Akanni Rafiu Olohunwa, and destroyed property there.
The thugs, brandishing dangerous weapons, destroyed the house and attacked residents.
A MRS filling station opposite the Campus Square football field was also looted and destroyed.
Shop owners were not spared either, as their goods were also looted.
P.M.NEWS effort to speak to Olohunwa this morning was futile, as his phone was switched off.
The National President of the NURTW, Nojeem Yasin in a statement issued in Abuja, yesterday, banned Olohunwa and Musilu Akinsanya, a.k.a Oluomo from participating in the union’s forthcoming election because of the latest fracas involving the supporters of the two NURTW leaders in Lagos State. Some victims have lost their lives on Lagos Island.
