Police Gun Down Two Robbery Suspects In Kuje

Two armed robbery suspects were on Wednesday gunned down by men of the Kuje Divisional Police Headquarters in the FCT, after they had carried out robbery in Zuba, Gwagwalada and Kuje in the FCT.

CSP Isa Danladi, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kuje.

He said his men chased the suspects, who drove in a Honda Civic car with registration number CU 98 RSH, after receiving a distress call from Hajara Usman, one of the victims.

“Shortly after the call, we alerted our men at various check points as well as our patrol team and when the robbers noticed there was no way of escape they abandoned the car and ran into the bush.

“That was when our men engaged them in a shootout that led to the death of two of the robbers while two others escaped with their arms,” he said.

Danladi said N30,000 cash, the Honda vehicle and five handsets were recovered from the robbers.

He said investigation had shown that the robbers had earlier robbed one Uma Ibrahim in Zuba and Amina Nda in Gwagwalada, before robbing Usman in Kuje.

The DPO said the corpses of the suspects had been deposited at the University of Abuja Teaching hospital, adding that efforts were being made to arrest the two robbers who escaped. Headline: Kano banks yet to re-open, despite government’s directive
