Lagos Principal’s Cup: State Finals Kick Off

Attention will now be shifted to four centres across Lagos as the 24 teams begin hostilities in the state finals of the 2012 Principal’s Cup today.

There is no doubt that the tournament will be keenly contested, judging from the pedigrees of the winners in the district finals.

Twelve schools have been drawn into four groups in the male and female categories to play in the state finals.

In the male fixtures, Group A comprises Army Cantonment, Angus Memorial Senior Secondary School and Ejigbo Senior High School. In Group B are Iganmu Senior High School, Ilupeju Senior Secondary School and Oshodi Senior Secondary School.

Group C consists of Dairy Farm Senior Secondary School, Agege, Gbaja Senior Secondary School,Surulere and Comprehensive Senior High School, Alapere, Ketu, while in Group D are Wahab Folawiyo Senior High School, Sango Senior High School, Agege and Ogunmodede Senior College, Epe.

In the female fixtures, Group A consists of Igbo Owu Secondary School, Mushin, Jubilee Senior Model College, Surulere and Ikotun Senior Secondary School. In Group B are Ansarudeen Comprehensive High School, Okota, Comprehensive High School, Alapere and Kuje Senior Secondary School, Agboju.

Group C has Akande Dahunsi Memorial High School, Mainland Senior Secondary School and Gaskiya Senior College, Ijora, while in Group D are CMS Girls Grammar School, Lagos State Model College, Agbowa and Sango Senior High School.

Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Olayinka Oladunjoye, warned the participating schools not to take the competition as a do-or die affair and urged them to exhibit spirit of sportsmanship throughout the tournament.

Army Cantonment and Ejigbo Senior High School will play the first match in the male’s category at the Technical College, Agidigbin, Lagos.
