Customs Chief Shot Dead


The Idiroko Federal Unit Head of Operations of the Nigeria Customs Services, Mr. Babajide Michael, has been killed by unknown gunmen.

P.M.NEWS learnt that the Customs chief was trailed to Adesola area, a suburb of Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, on the fateful day while on his way home from an outing and shot by the assailants.

According to P.M.NEWS sources, the Customs chief was at White Gate Hotel in Abule Egba around 7 p.m. where a man approached him and identified himself as an officer who buys seized goods from the Customs. He asked the Customs chief to help him to buy some seized vehicles.

The victim was said to have interrogated the man and discovered that the man was a fake officer and there was an exchange of words which prompted him (Michael) to bring out his service pistol and threatened to shoot the man.

It was alleged that the man later confessed that he was not an officer, stating that he used to help people to clear vehicles across the border. The fake officer was said to have fled the scene thereafter.

P.M.NEWS investigations revealed that the deceased was trailed to where he was shot dead at about 12 midnight on the same day.

Efforts by P.M.NEWS to speak to his wife proved abortive as she was said to be too shocked to speak to newsmen.

The elder brother of the deceased, Otunba Kehinde Adeosun, described the decease as a gentleman who minds his business.
