IBB Country Club To Hold Kids Tourney
The IBB Golf and Country Club will from 4-19 April come alive as the Kids Golf international will hold its first KGI/NKG All African Junior Golf Championships for children between ages 5 and 18.
The event, which will be supported by the LGAN, NGF, R&A, PGA & the US Kids Golf Foundation promises to be exciting going by the words of the founder and President of the Kids Golf International, Prince Kehinde Thompson.
He noted that they need to move the game forward.
According to him, golf in Nigeria was nothing different from jamboree parties where the who is who in the countrygather to have lots of fun and go home after sinking millions of naira in the process.
He added that various golf associations in the country should come together and work out a long term strategy for the development of the game so that recognised international players, amateurs and professionals will be attracted to play in Nigeria.
Thompson said: “The game is about to get a new face with the completion of modern golf facilities like the Lakowe Lakes in Lagos State, Elizade Golf Course in Ondo and the Saint Marks Golf Course in Benue State”.
He noted that there is an urgent need to build and equip training facilities such as driving ranges closer to communities rather than within the four walls of a golf club or course.
