With three matches remaining at the 2012 Iris Smart Technology Club Cricket Committee League, BRF Cricket Club, BRFCC of Ibeju Lekki, look good to be crowned the winners of the league.

BRFCC, who were unbeaten in the 22 matches played so far, were at their best last weekend against ILCC where national team coach and captain, Sean Phillips, who was playing his first match of the year showed the batting stuff he was made of posted 109 runs out off 74 balls which included 11 fours and 4 sixes.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, the league champions took full advantage of this by amassing a total of 295 runs for loss of 4 wickets in 45 overs.

All the bowlers of ILCC were made to look like beginners by the BRFCC quartet of Ademola Onikoyi (55), Femi Solebo (47), Endurance Ofem (28 ) and Leke Oyede’s 15 runs, while the duo of Tamuno John (2-44) and Olugbon Olympio (2-52) got the wickets for ILCC, the only team in Division 1 yet to win a match.

The ILCC needed a total of 296 runs to win the task, but this looked unachievable against the BRF side that paraded some of the best bowlers in the CCC League and the national team.

Pace Bowlers Saheed Akolade and Seye Olympio each took three wickets, while Spinner Lekan Awolowo added 2 wickets, 19 runs,1 maiden in 9 overs to dismiss their opponents for 128 runs all out in 39.5 overs.

Captain Yemi Amusa of the ILCC led by example with his 35 runs and was ably assisted by Austin Areghan (29) and Joshua Ayannaike (17 runs), which was not enough to save them from being relegated to Division 2 next season.
