The much-awaited annual Imo State Majority Leader’s Football Tournament tagged Ihuoma Unity Cup 2012, kicked-off on Saturday at Chioma Ajunwa Stadium, Ahiazu Mbaise, Imo State amidst pomp and pageantry.
In the opening match played, Ward 5 football team,( Amuzi-Ihenweorie) played barren draw with Ward 2 football team ( Otulu-Aguneze) in a pulsating match that was witnessed by ex-international Emmanuel Babayaro among other guests.
The competition, sponsored by the majority leader in Imo State house of assembly, representing Ahuzia Mbaise consitutuency,Mrs Adaku Ihuoma, drew personalities from far and wide, as the cup donor also used the occasion to officially open her constituency office in the state.
“I am happy with the way everything ended successfully,” said Ihuoma Unity Cup official consultant, Victor Macdonald.
“All our plans went according to our desires and all our guests turned up as expected, which shows that the grace of God is really with the cup donor, because she is a noble lady,” he said.
On her part, Ihuoma declared that it was an historic day in the community.
The chairperson of the House Committee on Women Affairs, Youth and Sports also expressed gratitude to everyone who graced the occasion and to those who worked to make it a huge success.
