Ezeugo To Keshi: Don't Rely On Foreign-Based Players

Former Super Eagles defender, Emeka Ezeugo, has advised Super Eagles’ coach, Stephen Keshi, not to rely on foreign-based players in his quest to build a strong senior national team for the country.

Ezeugo, who assisted former handler of the team, Samson Siasia while in charge at Heartland F C of Owerri, said it is necessary for Keshi to have a standby team mainly of home-based players that can be called upon whenever the need arises.

Popularly called ‘The Destroyer” during his playing days, Ezeugo said Keshi should learn from what his predecessors passed through, when some invited players would give flimsy excuses not to honour national calls.

According to him, “It is good that Keshi is rebuilding the Eagles but there is no time, he should beware of some of the senior players because they can deny him their services when it matters most.”
