Adopt-A-Talent Coaches Unveiled

Management Committee of the Adopt-A-Talent Sports Programme has unveiled coaches who will handle athletes in various sports in the programme.

Adopt-A- Talent Sports Programme is the initiative of the Office of the Principal Senior Assistant on Grassroots Sports Development to Governor Raji Fashola headed by Prince Wale Oladunjoye.

The programme, which had discovered 109 athletes in its first phase, was officially launched by Governor Fashola last Tuesday at Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.

The coaches who have worked for the success of the programme include Tajudeen Disu, former Nigerian international, who is in charge of football and his assistants, Jide Oguntuase and Oletu Williams

Coach Joe Mensah, the handler of the World Boxing Council, WBC Welterweight challenger, Nigerian Olusegun Ajose will be in charge of boxing. His assistants are Omotayo Babafemi and Daniel A.F.

The former Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN’s chief coach, Toni Urhobo with Uruemu Adu and Dele Solomon as assistants will be handling athletics.

Coach Orukotan Oluwole is in charge of table tennis while Olasumbo Saliu Dele and Ganiyu Kadiri will be his assistants.

Coach Ganiyu Otenigbagbe will handle basketball, assisted by First Deepwater Basketball Club coach, Lateef Erinfolami and Olamide Agbeseyi.

Volleyball is headed by Suraju Olajide, while Kudus Ayoola Sanni and Sanni Mohammed are his assistants.

The Central Working Committee of the programme has six sports administrators under the chairmanship of Prince Oladunjoye.

Others are Dr Niran Adeniji, former member of the board of Lagos State Sports Council, who is the Coordinating Consultant, Barrister Bunmi Fayemi, Legal Adviser, Coach Paul Bankole (Technical), Dr Tony Marinho (Educational) and Olutosin Adeyemi, who is the secretary.
