NURTW President Tasks Security Agents On Lagos Crisis
Law enforcement agencies in Lagos State have been tasked to get to the root of the cause/s of crisis in Lagos Island and apprehend those behind the lawlessness and continuous destruction of lives and property in the name of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
This was contained in a statement issued by the President of the union, Alhaji Usman Najeem Yasin while exonerating his union from the mayhem in Lagos.
NURTW boss stated that those causing crisis in Lagos were not members of NURTW as being speculated. “Lagosians are aware that those responsible for the wanton destruction of lives and property are not union members, but third party agents (thugs) recruited by some interest groups to tarnish the image of the union as well as distrupt the on-going transformation agenda of the union.”
Alhaji Yasin reiterated the commitment of the leadership of the union to redeem the image of the organization, hence “the union will no longer tolerate any act of gangsterism perpetrated on innocent members.”
He reaffirmed the ban placed on the leaders of two warring factions, that is Alhaji Rafiu Akanni Olohunwa and Musiliu Akinsanya, from participating in any union elections.
