Super Eagles striker, Obafemi Martins and his Rubin Kazan Football Club of Russia fell 0-1 at home to Olympiakos of Greece this afternoon in the Europa League Round of 16 match.

Martins was an 80th minute substitute for Valdez Nelson as Kazan struggled in vain to hold Olympiakos.

The former Inter Milan of Italy forward and his teammates made several incursions into the vital area of the visitors but their efforts were not enough to rescue a point.

The first half of the encounter ended goalless, but Olympiakos came back stronger to dominated the game in the second half, forcing Martins’ team to stay back to guard their rear.

The tie however ended in favour of the Greek club when David Fuster scored the lone goal in the 71st minute.

Kazan defenders failed to clear a loose ball from a corner kick and Fuster wasted no time to score from close range.

The midfielder’s shot was firm as the ball sneaked under the crossbar despite the efforts of Bebras Natcho, who attempted to stop it from entering the net.
