An initiative of Chandigarh Police and PHD Chamber of Commerce, the website of IGP invitational golf tournament was officially launched by the PK Srivastava, Inspector General of Police.
The IGP golf tournament will be a two-day event, scheduled for 3 and 4 March at Chandigarh Golf Club.
The golf tournament will kick off with a dinner at the Taj hotel on 3 March, and will be followed by golf tournament next morning.
The tournament will be inaugurated by Governor of Punjab and UT Administrator, Shivraj Patil.
IGP said the main objective of the tournament was to reach out to every part of society, bring people together, find out way of securing city by gathering views of all and to encourage the spirit of sportmanship.
Srivastava added that Golf lovers from IAS, IPS, IRS, Judiciary and defense cadres would meet on a common platform.
The three Deols, Sunny, Bobby and Abhay and Sikander kher will arrive either be present at the dinner or the inauguration of the event. Legendry cricketer Kapil Dev, Harbhajan Singh, Atul Wassan would also tea off among other golfers.
SSP Naunihal Singh said that there will be six to seven different categories for the participants. Further he added that Professionals will be a part of the event but not compete. Tournament will cover north India and start from Chandigarh followed by Jalandhar in April, Srinagar in June, Gurgaon in August and then the tournament will end in city beautiful on 17th of November where winners from different categories will compete for the final showdown.
