Man Charged With Raping Student In Hotel
A 36-year old man, Sunday Okoye, has been arrested by the police and charged before Apapa Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State, southwest, Nigeria for allegedly raping a 22-year old girl in a hotel room at Apapa, Lagos after the girl allowed him to have sex with her.
Okoye, who hails from Awka- Etiti in Anambra State,raped her after she allowed him to have a bout of sex with her with a promise to pay her N5,000 for only one bout.
After the first bout, he went ahead to request for an extra bout which she refused. He allegedly had to rape her in the process.
The father of three kids, who lives at Akinwumi Street Ejigbo, Lagos, took the victim, who is a student of Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT, to Waterside Hotel, Apapa, Lagos to have fun.
P.M.NEWS gathered that before they went to the hotel, Okoye had promised her N5,000 and paid her an advance of N1000.
The sex- romp turned sour when Okoye finished the first round and was not satisfied.
Instead of giving her the N5,000, Okoye allegedly grabbed her and threw her on a bed. He tore her underwear and held her neck before raping her.
She shouted and raised alarm that attracted the attention of the hotel management who forced the door open and saw the victim in a terrible condition and her underwear torn.
He was handed over to the police at Apapa Division who charged him to court.
Part of the charge reads: “that you Sunday Okoye on the same date, time and place did force the victim with threat and had unlawfully carnal knowledge of her.’’
He pleaded not guilty.
The presiding magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Shonubi, granted him bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum.
The matter has been adjourned till 12 March 2012 for mention.
