Mehuru Captain Relishes MAF Cup Title

Captain of Mehuru Football Club, Nkechukwu Obinna, said his team were technically better than Concord FC in the final of MAF Cup held on Sunday at the Air Force Base Sports Centre, Shogunle, Oshodi, Lagos.

Mehuru FC defeated their opponents 2-0 to emerge the winners of MAF Cup in a high tension soaked match watched by a thousand of fans in Oshodi and its environs.

The two goals by Emmanuel Ogunde and Adekunle Adegboyega were all Mehuru FC needed to defeat their opponents who also came out with many supporters.

Obinna admitted that both teams played purposeful football but noted that Ogunde’s goal gave his team psychological advantage over their opponents. Obinna was happy that his teammates played to coach instructions which earned them the victory.

“We deserved to win the game because we work hard throughout the tournament. Concord FC played good game but they lacked technical ability to beat us,” he said.

Cup donor, Moruf Akinderu Fatai, who is representing Oshodi\Isolo Constituency I in Federal House of Representative, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the fans and applauded the finalists for their brilliant performance.

He said both teams gave a good account of themselves but the better side won the game.

He pledged his commitment to football development in his constituency and urged the players to remain focused if they want to go far in their football career.
