The Governor of Ogun state, Ibikunle Amosun has assured the people of the state of adequate security of their lives and property.

Amosun gave the assurance today while reacting to an attempted robbery incident at the Governor’s Office, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta this morning by a three-man gang.

He warned men of the underworld and their accomplices to stay away from the gateway state.

Amosun said,”Let me state this clearly that hoodlums, armed robbers and their sponsors should stay away from Ogun state, their days are numbered and we will get them.”

The governor said that he has directed the security agencies in the state to trail the fleeing robbers and ensure that they are brought to book, adding that the incident would send a signal to the armed robbers that the state is a no go area for them.

“Today’s incident should serve as a signal to the robbers wherever they may be that Ogun state government is more than ready to police the entire state,” Amosun said.

He commended the security agencies in the state for promptly responding to the distress call, promising that his administration will continue to provide them with necessary equipment they need for their job.

Amosun, however, lamented the arms proliferation in the state, saying “it is easier to get gun than to buy water and soft drinks.”

He wondered how the robbers could have such effrontery to invade the Secretariat to carry out the operation.

Amosun thanked the people of the state for their unalloyed support and understanding, adding that the people would soon begin to see that his administration meant well for them.

Armed robbers this morning invaded the governor’s office in Oke Mosan and attempted to steal a Toyota Camry car with registration number, Ogun AKM 146 AA, but the operation was foiled by the security personnel at the Governor’s office who killed one of the robbers while others escaped.

A similar incident happened on Monday this week at the same Ministry of Education, Science and Technology where a vehicle was stolen by robbers. The ministry is located within the governor’s office.

Three ministries are located within the premises of the Governor’s office. The ministries are Justice, Education, Science and Technology and Information and Strategy.
