Technical Adviser of Rangers, Coach Okey Emordi, has rated the Nigeria Premier League, NPL high, saying the local league started on a high note with teams picking away points.

“This season has indeed started very well with the board of the NPL trying its best to encourage match officials which has seen some teams picking vital points away from their grounds. This calls for commendation and hope that it will remain this way for the clubs for them to give their best in all games.

“I believe that with more improvement in our referees during matches, this season will stand out as the best. I believe that adequate support from the private sector, the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF and the NPL will take our football and domestic league to a higher level,” he said.

Meanwhile, Emordi has thrown his weight behind Super Eagles’ head coach, Stephen Keshi, to lead the Eagles to next year’ African Cup of Nations in South Africa.

The former CAF Coach-Of-The-Year award winner stated that Keshi has what it takes to qualify the country for the Nations Cup next year.

“Keshi is a very sound coach who has all it takes to qualify the Eagles for any major championship. With the manner he has started in the build up to the Rwanda game in which he has given opportunities to local players, there is no way he won’t lead Nigeria to a glorious outing in the qualifiers and the competition proper,” he said.
