Nigeria’s Beijing Olympics bronze medalist, Chika Chukwumerije, who will represent the country in the taekwondoevent at the next Olympics, has promised Nigerians that he and his co-qualifier, Issa Adam, will not let the country down when hostilities begin in London, the venue of the Games.

Chika Chukwumerije and Issa Adam qualified for the London 2012 Olympics taekwondo event at the qualifiers in Cairo, Egypt, after beating their conquerors at the Maputo All Africa Games.

Chukwumerije said with their commitment to excel at the Games and the type of training they are undergoing, he is confident they will not disappoint the country in London.

He said: “We are presently working hard to make an impact at the games and I must say personally that I am satisfied with my output in training so far. And I hope to get to competitive peak before the games.”

Chukwumerije also assured Nigerians that the injury he sustained during the Qualifiers in Azerbarjan will not prevent him from doing his best for the country at the Games, adding that he will win gold medal for himself and the country at the games.

“I can assure you that I am physically fit now after the injury I sustained at the qualifiers,” said Chukwumerije.

Chukwumerije, one of the sons of Nigerian Senator, suffered a fracture on his nose that forced him to be moved to a London Hospital for treatment after the qualifiers in Egypt.
