The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Moses Onireti on Thursday evening dismissed 16 policemen serving across the state for misconduct, among which were extortion of motorists on the roads, bribery and corruption, absenteeism and neglect of duty.
The police boss disclosed that all the police property including the uniforms would be collected from them tomorrow stressing that gone were the days of corruption in the police.
He said the dismissal was in line with the aim of the new Inspector General of Police, Muhammed Abubakar.
According to him, the dismissal was to rid off bad eggs in the police pointing out that the exercise was carried out in all the divisions in the command to ensure effective policing.
“the command would not condone any act of indiscipline among the rank and file. Anyone caught extorting money from members of the public would be shown the way.”
The dismissed officers were found guilty by a court room trial set up by the command.
