Stallion Moves To Establish Six Vehicles Plant

As the Autoline Valentine Motor Show which began Monday 13 February 2012 came to an end, the management of Stallion Motors has disclosed its intention to establish six additional vehicle assembly plants to cater for the growing automobile needs of Nigerians.

Addressing automobile media at a ceremony to wrap up the six-day show, Mr. Parvir Singh, Group Managing Director, Stallion Motors Limited said the proposed auto plants are fundamental to the transformation agenda of the federal government, which seeks to position Nigeria among the world’s foremost economies by 2020.

He said the plants would operate as subsidiaries of the VON Automobile Assembly at VON Estate, Lagos/Badagry Expressway, assembling passenger cars, light commercial vehicles and trucks.

VON Automobile commenced full scale activity November 2011 and in January 2012, it supplied 240 units of Ashok Leyland Falcon buses to the federal government for the proposed mass transit scheme.

Meanwhile talks are being finalized with respective principals to begin schedule tooling of the anticipated plants, which would help standardize vehicles meant for Nigerian roads, while also creating job opportunities for unemployed artisans and technicians, Singh assured.

Some of the brands showcased during the six-day event at the Ocean View Restaurant garden, Victoria Island Lagos include Hyundai (passenger & commercial vehicles), Honda, Volkswagen (passenger & commercial vehicles), Skoda, Audi, Ashok Leyland buses and Foton pickups.
