The final of VIP Pad Football Educational Championship will hold on Sunday at the secretariat of Orile Agege Local Council Development Area, LCDA.
The tourney, which started some weeks ago, was put together by the Dipo Liadi-led Pad Football Association to keep the youth of the LCDA busy.
Liadi said though pad football is not as popular as soccer, table tennis and basketball, the sport has received supports from sports philanthropists and corporate organisations that are interested in youth programmes in Orile Agege LCDA among whom is Lagos State Commissioner for Transport, Kayode Ope-Ifa.
“Pad Football is like a play station game, where two individuals compete in a 10-minute game. It is an interesting game organised to keep the youth away from crimes,” he said.
Liadi expressed gratitude to the sponsor of the programme, Lagooz School and others for their support for the tourney.
Liadi said the eventual winner will go home with a Laptop donated by the state Commissioner for Transportation, while other players will go home with the free GCE, WAEC and JAMB forms as consolation prizes.
Taye Aderibigbe, Mattew Adeyemi, Wasiu Akanbi and Emmanuel Emmanuel will slug it out in the final of the tourney.
