Basketball: Hoopers, Police Set For DSTV League Opener

Coach of Royal Hoopers club of Port Harcourt, Ogoh Odaudu, has said that his players are ready to confront their opponents, Police Baton, as the 2011/2012 DSTV Premier Basketball League dunks off tomorrow in the Savannah and Atlantic Conferences. The match will take place at the Civic Center, Port Harcourt at 2pm.

While speaking with P.M Sports from his base in Port Harcourt on his team’s readiness for the new season, Odaudu expressed optimism that their aim to successfully defend the league title they won last season, is still achievable.

The former Nigeria’s guard said: “We are ready to play our opponents (Police Baton) on Sunday despite the fact that we are 50% ready for the season.

“The league is like a marathon race where it’s not how one starts but how one finishes the race. Hence, we hope to get better with each game and our aim still remains to reclaim the title we won last time out.”

Other matches scheduled for tommorow in the Atlantic conference include Union Bank taking on Chariots, Comets versus Islanders and Dodan Warriors will slug it out with Customs. In the Savannah confrence on Sunday, Defenders will host Tapgun Rockets, Immigration versus Yelwa Hawks, Niger Potters will take on Kano Pillars and Bauchi Nets confront KADA Stars.
