IG Stops Parade Of Dismissed Policemen

The lnspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, has ordered the Oyo State Police command not to parade the 16 policemen dismiissed Thursday for extortion in the state.The dismissed policemen were brought to the state headquarters by their DPOs Friday.

The affected officers whose ranks cut accross all cadres were kept in an office as at the time of filing this report.

The signal not to parade them came from the IGP around 11:50 a.m.and was attributed to the exercise being a threat to national security.

According to our source, “we are no longer parading them because IGP said that we should not parade them before the public. But they are dismissed. We have even collected all our property from them. We have collected our clothes and other things”.

The sacked policemen were dismissed as a result of professional misconduct which include bribery and corruption, absence from duty, etc.
