Ipaye Advocates For Justice Without Delay

The Lagos State Attorney –General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Ade Ipaye has stated that the law enforcement machinery and judicial administration needed to be reshaped in order to attain sustainable development in Nigeria.

Mr. Ipaye gave the advice at a meeting organised by the Justice for All Programme [J4A] in Ikeja, adding that Nigeria could not have real economic development without having the security and justice sector put in their rightful place.

The commissioner noted that there was the need to have a functional judicial system where offended citizens could get justice without delay and called on judges in various courts to always fast track court proceedings and allow justice to be given without delay.

He, however, pointed out that the Justice Administration system is better in Lagos State because there have been some level of improvement and progress in both the security and justice sectors of the state.

He added that the state government had put so much into the judicial sector to ensure the efficiency of justice delivery system, stressing that the financial support given to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund had helped the state government to address the issues of security.

Also speaking at the occasion, Mr. Ade Fagbenro –Bryon, DFID Regional Coordinator, Southwest, said the goal of the J4A programme is to ensure improved personal security and access to justice for all Nigerians.

J4A is a justice sector programme funded by the UK Department for International Development and managed by the Development Services Team of the British Council, to support Nigerian-led reforms of the Justice Sector.
