Ladol, Samsung Plan N1.6bn Academy

Government’s quest to raise the bar in the nation’s oil and gas sector through the local content policy may have got a boost with a joint venture deal between the Lagos Deep Offshore Logistics (LADOL) and Korea-based Samsung Heavy Industries in setting up a N1.65billion training academy in Nigeria.

The specialised institution to be known as Samsung Nigeria Technology Academy (SaNTA), which will be sited at the LADOL Free Zone (LFZ), off the Lagos Pilotage District, is expected to take off soon, according to the promoters.

Making the partnership deal public at a press conference in Lagos last Monday, representatives of the two organisations said they shared the belief that Nigeria has a bright future and unlimited potential, which has “driven both companies to invest in this new facility in advance and independently from any contracts.”

LADOL, a fully indigenous oil and gas deep offshore base in Lagos, southwest Nigeria, which incorporates the free trade zone, currently has a floating, production, storage and operation (FPSO) integration contract with Samsung.
