Principals, Parents and Proprietors of Private Junior Secondary Schools in Lagos State have been urged to speed up the ongoing online registration exercise of their candidates for the Year 2011/2012 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) coming up in May.

The advice was given in a statement signed by the Director of the Lagos State Examinations Board, Mrs. Modupe Ibiyemi Coker.

The Director added that the Board’s Local Education Officer would carry out a verification exercise of each school’s registered candidates in his or her local government. The exercise which would take place at the premises of the Board is meant to curb malpractices, guard against mistakes such as wrong spelling of names, misplacement of names and know the exact number of candidates writing the examination among others.

Mrs. Coker further stated that school proprietors and head teachers should remember to scan each candidate’s picture while registering them to eradicate fraudulent activities.

She also reminded owners of Private Primary Schools, head teachers and Education stakeholders that online registration is also on for admission into the State’s Model and Upgraded Colleges, while the Screening Test for admission into the colleges would come up on Saturday, 7th April, 2012.

She therefore urged pupils to study hard for both examinations to score high grades, adding that parents should assist their children and or wards by monitoring them and ensuring that they read their books regularly.
