Army To Detonate Recovered Explosive Devices
The 1 Division Headquarters, Nigerian Army, Kaduna, on Monday, said it would detonate the recovered Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) found at the scene of the Feb. 7 suicide bomb attack.
A statement signed by Lt. Col. Abubakar Edun, the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations in Kaduna on Monday noted that the attack by unidentified persons left the unexploded devices within the premises.
“Following the failed suicide bomb attack on Headquarters of 1 Division Nigerian Army Kaduna on February 7, 2012 by an unidentified group, quantities of unexploded Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were recovered from the scene of the attack.
“The IEDs, which could be very dangerous if not disposed early, are earmarked for demolition on February 28 and February 29 at Maro Forest, off Road Katul Crossing, Maro in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.”
The army advised the public not to panic or come near the demolition site during the exercise as it would produce loud sound around the Maro forest.
It would be recalled that a suicide bomber was killed in the attack, while some army and civilian personnel of the division sustained injuries during the incident.
