Fire Razes Warehouse, Destroys Goods Worth Millions

Fire has razed a warehouse and all the bottles of wine offloaded yesterday were burnt to ashes at Elfas Nigeria Limited located at Ivori Close off Acme Road, Ogba, Ikeja, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

Over five containers of wine were offloaded yesterday to the warehouse. They were estimated to worth millions of naira.

An eyewitness, who pleaded anonymity, told P.M.NEWS that immediately after they finished offloading the wine at about 8 p.m. yesterday, he went to eat, only for him to receive a call from where he went to eat that the company’s warehouse was in flames.

He said: “I was shocked and wondered if it was true or just an illusion. Later, I returned to see things for myself. When I saw that it was true, I was speechless.”

A source claimed that the fire started from a faulty electrical installation within the company.

The fire and safety service officials arrived the scene of the fire last night battled for hours but could not put out the raging inferno. They returned against this morning.

When our correspondent visited the warehouse this morning, sympathisers and policemen from Area ‘G’ Command, Ogba, Lagos were there still battling to put out the fire.

The management of the company blamed the fire safety service men for late arrival at the scene while some sympathisers also condemned the management for not providing adequate fire equipment in the company promises.

The staff were prevented from entering the burnt company this morning.
