The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Nicholas Nkemdeme, has solicited the cooperation of members of the Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle Owners and Riders’ Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN)in crime control.
The police chief, while receiving the national president of the association, Alhaji Babangida Maibula, and other officials of the association in his office, said the command will need the association’s assistance to achieve effective policing of the state, considering the large number of the members. He urged the leaders of the association to advise the members against involvement in criminal acts as it is a common knowledge that most crimes committed nowadays are facilitated by okada riders.
In his response, Maibula expressed appreciation for the assistance they get from the state police command towards maintaining peace and order among members of the association. He said there is no change in the leadership of the association in Ogun State; noting that the incumbent state and southwest chairman, Alhaji Kazim Apelogun (Allrounder) remains the chairman. He advised aggrieved members of the association to always shun violence and follow due process in making their demands.
The Commissioner of Police, therefore, warned that any member of the association who to engages in any act capable of causing crisis in the state will be arrested and prosecuted.
He urged the association to always use the following phone numbers 08033809170 (CP Ogun), 08037168147 (PPRO), 08123822910 (PPRO’s office) to contact the police whenever there is any problem.
