No fewer than 62 clubs in Lagos are expected to take part in this year’s Alimosho Unity Soccer Championship which begins on 1, April, 2012.

All the matches will be played in four centres — Egan Grammar School, Igando, Gowon Estate playground, Community Primary School, Isheri-Idimu and Agbado Oke-Odo Secondary School.

Match coordinator, Michael Adjara, said the tourney is the first of its kind in Alimosho Local Government Area, adding that many corporate bodies and some sports philanthropists have promised to give the championship the necessary support.

Adjara said the aim of the competition is to make the clubs in Alimosho to play one another instead of playing outside their local government area.

According to him, some clubs have filled their registration forms while others are yet to register for the tourney.

“We don’t limit the championship to clubs within Alimosho. We are expecting clubs from outside our local council to come for registration forms. It is going to be an interesting competition,” he said.

Adjara urged club owners not to see the championship as a do-or-die affair. He warned players to be good ambassador to their clubs.
