NSC Approves Chukwumerije's Road Map To Olympics

The National Sports Commission, NSC, has given its support to the road map of Chika Chukwumerije to the Olympic Games in London this July.

Chukwumerije, who won a bronze medal in the taekwondo event at the last Games in Beijing, China, in 2008, said that with the support of the government for his preparation to the world championship, he is ready to do the nation proud at the Games.

Chukwumerije said that he has begun an intensive training programme ahead of the London 2012 OLympic Games with a training tour of South Korea.

Chukwumerije, who is still recovering from a fracture to his nose, said he would be working closely with the sports development of the NSC and his coach in an effort to surpass the record of the last Games in London.

Though Chukwumerije did not disclose the colour of the medal he planed to win at the London Games, he assured Nigerians to expect a good performance from him.

He, however, disclosed that the concerted efforts of Taekwondo Federation of Nigeria paved the way for the current position of the sport in Africa an the world.
