In a bid to ensure that Nigerian athletes put up an impressive performance at this year’s Olympic Games in London, the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN, will on Sunday airlift 11 athletes to Atlanta, Georgia, United States of America, USA, for training.

Speaking on the federation’s preparedness for the Olympics on a radio programme early today, president of AFN, Chief Solomon Ogba, said the plan is to have Georgia and California as camp sites for Nigerian athletes, adding that only 11 athletes will make the trip to Atlanta, Georgia on Sunday for the first stage of camping.

According to the former Sports Commissioner in Delta State, “since most of our athletes are based in the US, we plan to take only 11 athletes from home to the US on Sunday to kick start our preparation for the Games.

Some of the athletes include Bukola Abogunloko, Omolara Omotosho, Doreen Amata, Comfort Onyali and others.
