Over 300 members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have defected to the ruling party in Ogun State, the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN.
Most of the defectors are from Ifo Local Government Area of the state.
They were welcome into the party by the chairman of the caretaker committee of Ifo Council area, Mr. Adebayo Kekere-Ekun.
Speaking with P.M.NEWS this morning, ACN Publicity Secretary in Ogun, Mr. Dare Alaba Adekoya confirmed the development.
He gave the assurance that many others are still being expected into the party before this week runs out.
According to the ACN scribe, “it’s true over 300 former PDP members defected to our party. Before the week runs out, others who are warming up will join our party, the ACN.
“The party has shown good governance to the people as the five cardinal programmes are being kept alive and we are not relenting as we are working towards a resounding success in the local government election coming up in the state very soon.”
Adekoya gave an assurance that the party’s door is still wide opened to more members, saying that the ACN is the only party in Ogun that can turn things around for the better.
He stated that the ACN leadership working in tandem with the state government will embrace more defectors so as to strengthen and widen the party’s scope before the next council election in the state.
The ACN may welcome more defectors from PDP and PPN in Ijebu East around Obafemi-Owode Council area of the state, P.M.NEWS has learnt.
