A Burton Albion defender will appear in court later this week charged with rape.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that new signing Patrick Ada had been charged late on Friday night following two days of questioning at a South London police station.
The 27-year-old appeared at Camberwell Green Magistrates’ Court on Saturday where he was remanded to appear at Woolwich Crown Court on Friday.
Ada was arrested by officers on Thursday afternoon in Burton after an allegation was made concerning an incident which took place in the early hours of Thursday morning in the Southwark area of South London.
Cameroon-born Ada was a free agent before agreeing a deal with the Brewers until the end of the season.
His start to life at the club was a disaster after being sent off after only 20 minutes in his first game against Cheltenham Town.
