Ahead of African qualifiers to be hosted by Mauritius next month, Kayode Ajilore, the captain of Nigeria’s Beach Volleyball team, has said that the team need to go on a training tour in order to excel at the tournament.
Ajilore said the team have been in camp for weeks, but need a training tour to prepare ahead of the tournament.
He said the team need to engage in friendly matches to build their confidence and get exposure to compete well with the oppositions in Mauritius.
“We need to prepare well and hope that the sport administrators will organise a training tour for us, so that we can play some friendly matches. It is very important for the team to embark on a training tour ahead of the qualifying tournament,” Ajilore said.
He reiterated that the team have talented players who are eager to do the country proud in Mauritius.
“You will see talented players sweating it out in training with the hope of doing well for Nigeria. The only way we can know how prepared we are for the tournament is to play friendly matches.
“The administrators know that this is very important. There is no way you can compare training with playing friendly matches to prepare the team.” he added.
