Man Arrested Over Adulterated Beer Factory

For beer addicts who drink beer in a any joint in Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, they need to watch because they may be consuming adultrated beer.

This followed the arrest of a liquor dealer, Martin Onwuoma who was charged before Ejigbo Magistrate’s court in Lagos for adultrating different brands of beer and sell them to customers.

He was arrested on a tip at his shop at 6, Okesalu Compound, Ikotun, Lagos and charged with felony.

P.M.NEWS gathered that the suspect confessed to the police that he was not the only dealer doing the ‘business’. This has led to the further arrest of other liquor dealers in the area.

He also revealed that they sell their products to buyers within the Lagos metropolis.

The 41-year old Onwuoma who is a wholesale dealer was caught with a cocked machine which he uses to adultrate different brands of beer in his shop.

The police prosecutor, Mr. Oladejo Balogun, alleged that Onwuoma bought Turbor King stouts and pour it into Guinness stout bottles and was selling them to retailers who in turn was selling it to consumers as Guinness brand owned by Guinness Plc.

He allegedly bought 33 lager beer at cheaper price and poured the contents into Star beer bottles and as well sold them as Star beer to unsuspected consumers.

He was arraigned in court yesterday before the presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M. B. Folami.

The police said the offence Onwuoma committed contravened Section 243 of the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.

The prosecution was stalled due to the absence of the complainant.

The court ordered the police to take him back to the station and bring him back with the complainant, Guinness Plc.
