Paralympics: Sani Ndanusa Extols Wheelchair Tennis Team

President on the Nigeria Tennis Federation, NTF, Engr. Sani Ndanusa, is excited with the qualification of country’s wheelchair tennis players for Paralympics Games.

Ndanusa said the feat was a testimony that wheelchair tennis is fast growing in the country. The President of Nigeria Olympic Committee, NOC, said: “I’m excited with the qualification as the players proved themselves again in Kenya. This shows that wheelchair tennis in the country is growing.”

The NTF boss, however, showered praises on Senator Oluremi Tinubu for single-handedly seeing to the growth of wheelchair tennis in the country with her New Era Wheelchair Tennis Championship.

“I’ll like to give kudos to Senator Oluremi Tinubu for ensuring that wheelchair tennis is not dead in the country. Her New Era Foundation, which sponsors the wheelchair tennis tournament every year has contributed immensely to the growth of the game in the country,” said Ndanusa, who is also the Vice President of the Confederation of African Tennis, CAT.

According to the former Minister of Sports, the federation would ensure that the players who are going to the Paralympic Games are well prepared for the world tourney between now and August.

“The players will embark on series of training tours and also participate in tournaments in Europe and Africa to keep them in good shape ahead of the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

“In two or three weeks time, they’ll be going to Libya and when they come back, they’ll participate in tournaments in Europe. These will keep them in good shape before the Games in London,” he said.
