2 Cops Injured In Gunfight With Boko Haram

Armed with guns and explosives, assailants suspected to be Boko Haram members who were riding a motorcycle this morning attempted to blow up Mandori Police Station in Kano, Kano State, Northwest Nigeria.

They were confronted by armed policemen and mobile policemen on guard at the station.

During the gunfight, a mobile policeman and a regular policeman were injured.

While the cop was shot in the belly, the mopol was hit by a bullet on his left leg. They were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital.

As at the time of filing this report, normalcy has returned to the police station and Mandori area but the number of casualties could not be ascertained.

P.M.NEWS correspondent who visited the scene of the gunfight reports that the Kano Military Joint Task Force, JTF, comprising soldiers, Air Force and a detachment of the State Security Service, SSS, and mobile policemen have cordoned off the area.

It was gathered that the Islamist fundamentalist, known as Boko Haram have been making frantic efforts to attack and blow up the Mandori Police Station in Kano for some time now.

As at press time, Boko Haram was yet to issue a statement on this morning’s attack on the police station.
