Referee Patrick Kyeremanteng was brutally assaulted at the Robert Mensah Stadium after disallowing a late equaliser for Ebusua Dwarfs in the Ghana Glo League last weekend.
The referee and his assistant were mercilessly beaten up by irate fans after what seemed a good goal scored by Bismark Asiedu was ruled out for an offside.
The home fans invaded the pitch to carry out the shameful act by over-powering the clearly inadequate security put in place.
The disallowed goal thus ensured Aduana Stars came away from Cape Coast with all three points with a hard-fought 1-0 win.
Meanwhile, Ebusua Dwarfs owner, Nana Aidoo, is refusing to condemn the attitude of his fans after they assaulted the match officials.
Kyeremanteng and his assistants George Saijah and Augustine Akugri were badly beaten by the club’s fans in shameful scenes.
But rather than condemn the fans for their attitude, the club owner merely called it unfortunate before recounting a series of happenings he claims justifies Kyeremanteng’s bias against Dwarfs.
