Players of Enugu Rangers are happy that despite their draw game against Niger Tornadoes, they have not only maintained their unbeaten run but still stay top of the Nigeria Premier League, NPL, table.
Rangers extended their unbeaten run in the NPL on Saturday after a 1-1 draw away at Niger Tornadoes. The Flying Antelopes are now unbeaten in eight games this season.
Super Eagles’ winger, Ejike Uzoenyi, whose 25-yard volley put Rangers in front inside 30 minutes of the game, told SuperSport.com that he is happy with his side’s run and wants to keep it going.
Sibi Gwar drew Tornadoes level before half time to deny the Flying Antelopes the chance of a second away win this term.
Uzoenyi was in his imperious best at the Bako Kontagora Stadium in Minna as he ran Tornadoes backline ragged, and the petite winger said he wants to churn out such performances for Okey Emordi’s squad week in, week out.
“I’m very happy that we gave our best in that game and did not lose, which is important. It was good to have scored and help the team win a point in a difficult place like Minna.
“Personally, it was a very good outing for me and that’s the kind of performance I want to put in every week for Rangers and hopefully I pray that it will pay off at the end of the season,” said the former Gateway FC man.
Rangers striker, Chikeluba Ofoedu, said his team are in high spirits and form to remain on top of the standings and that the draw at Niger Tornadoes will further boost their confidence.
“We are in good spirits and set to remain in this position for a very long time and win the title at the end of the league. This draw will help boost our confidence,” the young striker told MTNFootball.com.
Sibi Gwar, who has scored three goals in the season, equalised for the home team in the 35th minute. He said Tornadoes expected a tough game.
“I know it will be a tough game playing a team who are top of the table, but it was a pity we lost,” Gwar said.
