Proprietress of Stella Maris Private School And College, Mrs. Eugenian Nwakalor, has blamed the current poor quality of Sports masters and mistresses in elementary and primary schools on the bad state of Colleges of Education in the country.

Mrs. Nwakalor, a renowned educationist, stated this recently while addressing newsmen at the closing ceremony of the 12th Annual Inter-House Sports competition of Stella Maris Private School and College, held at the University of Lagos Sports Centre, Akoka, Lagos.

She said the problem of poor quality of manpower to teach students in Physical Education in Nigerian schools is boiled down to the fact that most people that are in the teaching profession do not acquire their teaching knowledge through Colleges of Education but attended universities to read Education.

Meanwhile, four Houses competed in various sporting activities, which included filling the basket, sack race, lime and spoon race, catching the rings, three legged race, shot put, parents race and track race at the school’s Inter-House Sports. Blue House emerged overall winners and were awarded a giant trophy.
