'Nigeria’s Hope Lies In Youth Development'

Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Adeyemi Ikuforiji, has said the youths stand as the hope of the nation in every aspect of development in the country, including sports.

The Speaker stated this at the third annual sports festival of Ojodu Junior High School, Ojodu, Lagos.

He pointed out that for any meaningful development to take place, the youths must be adequately encouraged and prepared to weather through the challenges involved in nation building.

Ikuforiji, who was represented at the event by a member of the House, Rotimi Olowo, added that government’s effort aimed at developing the youths in the area of sports has paid off, urging sports administrators in the country to be more efficient in the management of sports.

At the end of the sports activities, Blue House, sponsored by the Speaker, came first, Green and Red Houses came second and third respectively.

In her speech, the Principal of the school, Mrs Oyefunke Adepoju, declared that organising sports is a way of developing future leaders.

She lauded the good gesture of the Speaker, saying that whoever loves children would have interest in developing them.
