Elected politicians under the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, have been urged to emulate Mr. Dayo Saka Fafunmi, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, in providing dividends of democracy to the electorate.

Making this appeal in Lagos, a chieftain of the party in Ojokoro Local Council Development Area, Mr. Adegboyega Davies, said by giving back to the society, elected officials were reconnecting to those who ensured their election at the polls.

He commended Fafunmi for remembering members of his constituency at this period of economic hardship by organising training in vocational activities for youths in Ifako-Ijaiye and providing indigent students of the local government with free JAMB and GCE forms.

“Those of us who played active roles in the election of these public office holders knew their antecedents and we are happy with what they are doing now. This is why I am commending Fafunmi for his poverty alleviation measures for the electorate in Ifako-Ijaiye.

“The lawmaker gave out more than 200 free JAMB and GCE forms for indigent students in the local government and conducted vocational training for youths to make them self-reliant. He gave out sewing machines, hair dryers, helmets and motorcycles to residents. “This is what public service is all about. It is the ability to remember those who ensured that you were elected and doing things to make them happy. It is the dividends of democracy we are all clamouring for.

“If others can emulate Fafunmi, the world will be a better place for all,” he stated.
