Shittu Buried, As Lagos FA Mourns Him

Former Green Eagles star, Pa Amusa Shittu, who died yesterday afternoon at the Gbagada General Hospital, has been buried.

The late Shittu was committed to mother earth at exactly 7p.m. at Atan Cemetery, Yaba, Lagos, according to Muslim rites.

P.M.Sports gathered that personalities that witnessed Shittu’s burial last night included Prince Wale Oladunjoye, the Senior Special Assistant on Grassroots Sports Development to Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, who represented the state government, some staff of Federal College of Education (Technical), Yaba, where the late Shittu worked as Physical Education lecturer for years, Coach Yomi Peters, his three children, families and friends.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Football Association, LSFA, has expressed deep shock over the death of Shittu. LFSA boss, Seyi Akinwunmi, stated that Pa Shittu’s demise was a great loss to Nigerian football development, as he was a grassroots person to the core and a role model to the youngsters in the country.

Akinwunmi said: “Pa Shittu was a complete gentleman. He was also very committed to the development of Nigerian football.

“He was a friend of the LSFA and we will never forget his good works in the development of football in Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole. I believe he lived a good life that is worth emulating by all and sundry,” he added.
