Godwin Daboh Dies At 70

Benue State-born politician and stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Godwin Akpenlamen Adzuana Daboh is dead.

Daboh, 70, died at the Garki Hospital, Abuja today of a heart related ailment.

He made his first incursion into politics in 1957 when he became a member of the United Middle Belt Congress (UMBC) and later a chieftain of the National Party of Nigeria (NPN).

Daboh in a recent interview revealed that his greatest achievement in politics was being part of those who contributed to the emergence of President Goodluck Jonathan in the 16 April 2011 presidential election.

The late controversial politician was Deputy Coordinator, Concerned PDP Elders for Jonathan/Sambo Presidential Ticket, National Chairman Concerned Nigerians for IBB, National Chairman Benue State Elders’ Forum and former National Treasurer, PDP.

Commenting on the demise of Daboh, one time Lagos State Police Commissioner, Alhaji Abubakar Tsav in a chat with P.M.NEWS said: “Death, not only of Dr Godwin Akpenlamen Daboh, constantly reminds us of the nothingness and emptiness of this evil world. There is therefore no reason for humans to fight one another over worldly vanities , because when one dies one goes with nothing, except his good or bad deeds. Patience and good deeds are the best pancreas for successful living.

“Daboh’s death is sad and signifies the end of an era .May God forgive his sins and reward his good deeds with paradise. May God grant his family the fortitude to bear the loss and may his soul rest in peace. Amen. Let us be prepared to meet God by engaging in good deeds.”

Also in his reaction, Dr Terhemba Shija , a university don and the immediate past Director General, Suswam/Lawani Campaign Organisation, said the news of the demise of Daboh came to him as a shock .

According to him, Daboh’s death is a great loss to the PDP family and to the people of Benue State and noted that he will be missed greatly by the widows, orphans and the less privileged who benefited immensely from his goodwill.
