London 2012 Olympics bound Nigerian table tennis player, Aruna Quadri, hopes to leave his current Portuguese club for a superior league in the coming season.

The ping ponger, who inspired his team, GDSR Os Toledos, to qualify for the play-off in the Portuguese League, said he wants to play in another league in Europe.

“For now, my plan is to move to a superior league in France, Germany, Spain or Italy next season. But that does not mean that Portuguese League is not good enough. I only want to leave because I am eager for fresh challenges,” said Quadri in an online chat with P.M.Sports.

He said: “At present, a club is showing interest in me in the Spanish League. But I am yet to put pen to paper because I want to put things in order before I sign for the club, provided they give me a good offer.” Quadri said his manager has also made proposals to clubs in Germany and France.

“My manager has sent proposals to clubs in Germany and France but we have not been able to seal any of the deals. And the one I got from France is not good for me, because I’m not based in France.

“I will just be going for matches as this type of offer is only good for players that are living in Europe and not for an African player like me.

“Tickets fare from Nigeria to France will be too high for me to bear,” added Quadri.
