Basketball Training For Officials
Lagos State Basketball Association, LSBBA, has concluded a three-day workshop/seminar for its technical officials at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Centre, Rowe Park, Yaba, Lagos.
The seminar, which was declared open on the first day (Tuesday) by the LSBBA chairman, Babs Ogunade, and held through 14-16 March, 2012, was meant to bring all the participants up-to-date on the latest rules and technicality of the game.
Head of Technical of the association, Gbade Olatona, informed that over 100 officials within the state participated in the seminar, while many instructors were attended as resource persons throughout the seminar.
Olatona said: “In view of the newly reconstituted board to run the basketball association of the state and with the loaded programmes pencilled down for the year, we deemed it fit to train all qualified coaches, referees, table officials, statisticians and sports officers in clubs and schools within the state.”
Other seasoned resource persons that graced the occasion included the FIBA graded referee, Kingsley Ojeaburu, foremost basketball coach, Ganiyu Otenibade and Patrick Omo Osagie, an experienced and versatile sports resource person.
The LSBBA is striving to reposition basketball in Lagos State, as all participants at the event were assessed in both theory and practical applications of the game. And at the end of the seminar, they were presented with certificates of participation.
