The much-anticipated Lagos derby between high flyers City of David, popularly known as C.O.D United, and the experienced campaigners, Bridge Boys, lived up to its billing over the weekend in the Nigeria National League played at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.

The match, which ended in a 4-4 thriller, was watched by a scanty crowd, who came to support their favourite clubs.

Home team, Bridge Boys, edged in front three times, but were each time pegged back by a resolute C.O.D United.

Eventually Daniel Jackson of COD United gave his side the lead for the first time in the tension-soaked match, but the lead lasted only for three minutes as a result of a sumptuous Azeez Abu freekick from just outside the C.O.D United vital area to level scores at 4-4 ,which earned hosts, Bridge Boys, a share of the spoils.

The draw took C.O.D United to the top of the table on 14 points after eight games, while Bridge Boys, in mid-table, now have 8 points from the eight games.

The only negative from the match was that it was played before a near-empty Teslim Balogun Stadium.
