Boko Haram strikes again, kills 3

Gunmen suspected to be mercenaries of Boko Haram, on a motorcycle this evening in Kano, northwest Nigeria attacked a crowd at Sharada by Freedom Radio Junction, killing three and injuring one.

The incident which occurred at about 6:30 sent fear and panic into residents of the area.

Gunshots went on for about 30 minutes, a resident said.

“Two gun men on a motor bike stormed the area at about 6:30 this evening. They shot into a crowd playing card, where they must have sighted men on police uniform.

“About two civilians and one Police man lost their lives. I believe a number of people must have sustained various degrees of injuries as their was pandemonium when the incident occurred,” said a Sharada resident who pleaded anonymity.

Confirming the incident through a text message, ASP Musa Magaji Majiya, spokesman of Kano Police Command said: “gunmen on motorcycle attacked and killed two civilians and injured one at a joint of card-playing along Sharada by Freedom Radio junction

Suspects fled immediately before arrival of the police patrol teams. Investigations commence.”

Much later, men of the Kano Joint Task force cordoned off the area.
