Corps Member Insists Osun Monarch Raped Her

The ex-corps member, who was allegedly raped by an Osun monarch in 2011, on Monday told an Osogbo High Court that the Alowa of Ilowa, Oba Adebukola Alli, actually raped her.

The ex-NYSC member refuted the claim by the monarch that she enjoyed sex with him, and said that the she was lured into the apartment of the monarch in Osogbo where the incident happened.

She said that the Oba requested her to be a tutor for the state government free computer training programme for Ilowa community where she was serving during the period.

“He asked me to follow him to Osogbo to collect a list of some beneficiaries to be registed for the programme with a promise to bring me back to Ilowa town.

“He did not say anything about the list when we got to his house. l insisted that l wanted to go back to Ilowa, but he requested that l should keep the night in his house which l bluntly refused,” she testified.

The victim further said that the monarch locked the door, prevented her from leaving and forcefully removed her dress after undressing himself and threaten to soak my cloth in water if l refused to cooperate.

The ex-corps member said she managed to send text messages to her pastor and the Corps Liason Officer (CLO) in Obokun Local Government Area that the monarch wanted to rape her that night.

She told the court that the monarch eventually overpowered her and had sex with her by force.

She added that she reported the incident to the NYSC local inspector immediately she returned to Ilowa the following day.

The defence counsel, Mr. Taofeek Tewogbade, and the state prosecuting principal’s lawyer, Mr. Biodun Badeora agreed to come back today for continuation of the case.

Justice Jide Falola, therefore, adjourned the case to March 20, for cross examination of the principal witness.
